If you have a favorite among the eight bands that will entertain at Pine Island Cares, a benefit for the Parsons family, you can be assured of being there at the right time as the entertainment schedule for the event has just been set.

– 11 a.m. – Gary & Kerri plus Still Kickin’

– 12 p.m. – Ground Zero

– 1 p.m. – Strange Arrangement

– 2 p.m. – Local Volunteers

– 3 p.m. – 10,000 Views

– 4 p.m. – Soap Box

The event will also introduce Trailer Park Barbie with Vytas Vibe.

Jim Frock, organizer of the fund-raising event, hopes folks will come and stay the whole day.

“The gates open at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, and, along with the music, we’ve got lots of great food,” Frock said.

“Along with 1,000 pounds of seafood, including shrimp, stone crab claws and Pine Island clams, we’ve got seafood chowder, crab cakes, smoked mullet and Mel’s mullet dogs.”

Landlubbers will find plenty on the menu to satisfy their tastes.

“We’re having a hog roast and, of course, hamburgers and hot dogs for the kids,’ Frock noted.

Frock is still hoping for a bonfire so the event can go on beyond 5 p.m.

“Chief Bradley is working on it but has to confer with the Division of Forestry to see if they will give their permission,” Frock said.

The benefit will be held at 5149 Pine Island Road, about a half mile from the four corners.
