Barge Party IV to benefit From Our Hearts

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sandbar Productions will host Barge Party IV to benefit From Our Hearts, an island organization whose goal it is to provide breast cancer screening and treatments to in-need residents of Greater Pine Island.
“We’re very grateful to have been chosen to be the beneficiary of this event,” said Karen Washburn, president of From Our Hearts. “But the true beneficiaries are those islanders for whom we arrange screenings and those who contract this horrible disease and need help with affording necessary treatment.”
The event takes place on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 11 AM. to 6 PM, at Two Pines in northern Matlacha Pass, _ mile east of marker 79 (GPS 82o 05.5 / 26o 41.5). Boaters and guests are invited to come enjoy music provided by Deb and The Dynamics and Ground Zero and donate to a worthy cause.
The Kayak Cuties from Saint James City will be in the water to collect donations from the boats as they arrive for the party. From Our Hearts also plans to have a party pontoon boat with pink Mardi Gras beads for those wanting to donate to help those in need in our community.
“Last year we provided over 150 screenings/mammograms. Because of the generosity of participants in events such as Barge Party IV, we’ll be able to provide many more this year,” Washburn stated. “And these events raise awareness about this tragic disease which can be contracted by men as well as women.”
Past Barge Parties have drawn over 200 boats and raised $12,000. So plan your weekend boating outing October 15 at Barge Party IV and help exceed the money raised at the past events.
To defray the costs of the event, donations have already been gratefully received from the following sponsors: Low Key Tiki, Max Marine, Chris Davis Roofing, Gulf Island Adventures, Bubba’s Roadhouse & Saloon, Seven Seas Bait and Tackle, Bert’s Bar and Grill, The Nautical Mile, York Road Marina, B.M.I. Dock Builders, and Wasted Seaman Fishing Co.
