19 attend latest CERT training
On July 26, the Pine Island- Matalacha Fire District CERT Team had a meeting at Pine Island Fire Station #1 at the center. The meeting was held by Fire Chief David Bradley and attended by 19 CERT team members.
Bradley reviewed procedures that team members should take should they be called up to serve in case of emergency and the individual preparedness each team member should have should a mandatory evacuation be called in the case of a hurricane. Also reviewed was the necessary equipment and car pass needed to return to the island when called to do so. All team members are ready and equipped should such an event occur.
Next, team members were assembled outside in front of the fire station to see firemen demonstrate the use of “The Jaws of Life” equipment that is used to rescue victims pinned in their vehicle in a serious car crash. Pine Islanders can rest assured that our Safety Forces are ready and well equipped should any emergency occur.
