Mango Queen appears at monthly Tourism Council meeting
Mango Queen Melissa Koferl attended the June meeting of the Lee County Tourism Development Council in Fort Myers on Friday, June 10, 2011. Queen Melissa was introduced to the council members and various Visitor Convention Bureau staff by Pine Island Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Lisa Benton. The Tourism Development Council, better known as the TDC in the tourism industry, is the official tourism arm of the Lee County Board of Commissioners, and works in conjunction with the VCB to promote tourism for Lee County.
TDC members were treated to oatmeal/mango cookies from Little Lilly’s Deli, along with mango smoothies. Queen Melissa greeted the members with invitations to attend MangoMania Tropical Fruit Festival on July 30 and 31, at the German-American Club, and gave a brief description of some of the festivities attendees can expect – live music both days of the festival, a mango tasting table, mango fruit and tree sales along with other tropical plants and fruits, numerous games and contests for participants of all ages, mango-based food contests, a children’s “carnival” games area, art and craft vendors, food vendors, souvenir MangoMania tee shirts, and much more.
