Legion Auxiliary receives high honors

MARIANNE PATON The Pine Island American Legion Auxiliary recently received a total of nine trophies in recognition of work well done by the group. Shown with the awards are Auxiliary secretary Rubye Woodhead, president Carol Paulson and chaplain Sonny Koutsoutis.

Recognition for hard work and dedication was bestowed upon the members of the Pine Island Auxiliary last week as they were presented with numerous awards.

While attending a recent Constitutional Conference held in Punta Gorda, members of the Auxiliary were presented with a total of nine awards for a variety of accomplishments.

The first place trophies collected by the group included one each for Americanism, Community Service, Education and Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation. Many second place trophies also were presented to Auxiliary Unit 136, Pine Island for a category called Cavalcade of Memories, as well as one each for National Security, Past Presidents Parley, Public Relations and for a 102 percent membership renewal rate.

Also presented were certificates of appreciation for leadership, the poppy campaign and for the Auxiliary chaplain.

Accepting the awards on behalf of Auxiliary members were Auxiliary president Carol Paulson, secretary Rubye Woodhead, chaplain Sonny Koutsoutis and Auxiliary member Faye Palmer, who traveled together to American Legion Post 103 in Punta Gorda.
