Vehicle Safety Inspection checkpoint results
A vehicle safety inspection was conducted Tuesday morning May 24, 2011 by members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit and Delta District Deputies on Constitution Boulevard in South Fort Myers. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is committed to safety on our streets and highways. This traffic safety initiative was intended to educate and inform the public about traffic safety issues while helping to mitigate traffic fatalities, injuries, crashes and criminal activity in Lee County.
Drivers who did not possess a valid driver’s license and those who were operating a motor vehicle with a revoked or suspended license were identified as well. Individuals who had not properly registered or insured their vehicle were detected too.
The following are the results of the activity that began at 7:30 a.m. and ended at 10 a.m.
No Valid Drivers License: 06
Driving While License Suspended: 01
Tag & Registration Violations: 12
No Proof of Insurance: 07
Seat Belt Violations: 09
Faulty Equipment: 05
Other Citations issued: 12
Number of Vehicles passing through checkpoint: 323
