Pine Island CERT welcomes new members
On Wednesday, May 4, 12 new members were added to the Pine Island Fire district CERT team after completing nine weeks of training beginning on March 2, and ending on May 4. Members were trained in disaster preparedness, fire safety, medical operations and procedures, search and rescue, and disaster psychology. On May 4, the new members were issued all necessary equipment and are now ready to assist Safety Forces, under the directions of the Fire Chief, in the event of a major emergency. The New members are;
Al Moxon, Dorothy Tanner, Gennie Goldberg, James Brown, Marie Hughs, Martha Smith, Barb Muroz, Judy Knez, Ed Knez, Greg Ciccone, Tim Edwards, and James Dinkins.
Residents of the Pine Island Fire District can rest assured that these new and and present members of the Pine Island Community Response Team are ready to respond should a emergency occur. CERT would also like to thank all those who have contributed to the CERT team budget as equipping the new members came to about $ 2,000 and we depend on the community to support us. We will be there for you should a situation occur.
