MPIFCD called to assist with Charlotte Harbor boat fire
Two boaters were rescued Wednesday morning after their vessel caught fire in Charlotte Harbor near Pine Island.
The Matlacha-Pine Island Fire Control District received a call from the Charlotte Harbor Fire Department at approximately 11:45 a.m.to assist with a boat fire at Boca Grade Pass.
According to Deputy Chief Joe Marzella, the MPIFCD firefighters were the secondary responders and the fire was quickly extinguished with no injuries.
The two occupants of the private craft were transported to safety by a vessel from Sea Tow.
The names of the boaters have not been released.
The U.S. Coast Guard is the agency investigating the fire to determine the cause, officials said.
