LOTE share High Tea with Abigail Adams

The Ladies of the Elks were treated to a very special guest last week while enjoying High Tea. Stepping out of the pages of history and walking among those nibbling on finger sandwiches was Abigail Adams, wife and “best friend” to our nation’s second president, John Adams.
Portrayed by Janina Bartolo, her character appeared in period costume and related her life and love affair with the man who helped to draft our constitution and served the country as a diplomate to France and eventually following George Washington as the leader of this new nation.
Bartolo has become an annual favorite among the ladies of the Elks and its guests by performing her one-women shows to a capacity crowd. Past performances have transformed award-winning performer, Bartolo, into noted women including Mary Todd Lincoln, Amelia Earheart, Sarah Bernhart and many others.
Proceeds from this afternoon tea and performance will benefit several island charities supported by the Ladies of the Elks.
