Who will earn the title ‘Peoples Choice’ at this year’s Taste

Facing a field of tough competition, the Perfect Cup has captured the title of Peoples Choice for the best seafood chowder entered into the competition held during the annual Taste of Pine Island for three consecutive years. This year’s chowder cook-off will provide yet another challenge for island chefs who hope to take the title away from Perfect Cup owner and chef Whitney Brown. Among those vying for this prestigious title during the Jan. 22, event will be the Waterfront Restaurant in St. James CIty, Toucan, Miceli’s and Sandy Hook from Matlacha and Phil’s Grill in St. James City who will pull out all the stops as they compete against the Perfect Cup.
For the annual Seafood Chowder Cook-off, those attending the event will serve a the judges. Purchasing a $5 entry ticket, each attendee will also be issued score cards to rate each of the chowders prepared on-site by representatives of each of the participating restaurants. The winner of the contest will be announced during the day-long event.
The Taste of Pine Island and Seafood Chowder-Cook off will be staged at Phillips Park at the island center on Saturday, Jan. 22, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call event organizer, Pat Burman at 283-0777.
