Matlacha Bridge closures Tuesday, Jan. 52 thru Thursday, Jan. 27

1 min read

This week, Tuesday through Thursday, we will be placing temporary sheet pile at either end of the Matlacha bridge. This will be some of the most traffic disruptive and noisy work thus far. We’ll wait until after 9 a.m. and stop at 4 p.m. in consideration for work traffic, then start again at 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. This involves driving 35 foot long sheets of steel 4 feet wide down immediately adjacent to the existing bridge. Once we get them started, we’ll let traffic go, but there will be 20 minute traffic stops periodically all day. The vibrating hammer that drive these piling is very loud so we decided to do the majority of work before most folks go to bed. We’ll monitor traffic closely, and have a couple of contingency plans – just wanted to give you a heads up.
