Mark your calendar for Taste of Pine Island 2011
Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island, the Taste of Pine Island will showcase many local businesses again this season. Slated for Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, this well -attended island event promises to have something for everyone. Covering the gamut from live musical performances to arts and craft vendors, the highlight of the event will be food. Several island restaurants have already signed up to present samples of their signature dishes as well as the highly anticipated Chowder Cook-off Contest featuring the best chowders from professional and novice island chefs. The best part is that attendees of the event will be the judges. In addition to more than 90 vendors, music and activities for children, the day will come to a grand finish with the Fish Drop.
All proceeds from this event will benefit college bound island students. To date these proceeds have provided more than $200,000 in scholarships.
For more information, call event chair Pat Burman at 283-0777.
