The St. James City community lighted boat parade was a huge success with 22 boats decked out in a colorful array of lights and 144 people participating as crew and captains. In addition, there were hundreds of viewers with a wave of cheering and partying along the waterways of St. James City.

It started with the captains meeting and party Friday evening Dec. 17, at the Ragged Ass Saloon and then the staging festivities along the waterfront at Woody’s Waterside restaurant the nest day. The parade began at 6 p.m. and continued through the canals of St. James City and on to the Waterfront Restaurant for the judging of the best decorated boats and crews and the awards ceremony later Saturday night. The Waterfront staff furnished 15 gallons of chili to the participants of the parade. Prizes were awarded to all captains to reward them for their hard work and for presenting such an electrifying and happy face parade for the folks of St. James City.
