1 min read

The 2010 Annual Crime Report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office shows overall crime in the county dropped by double digits…down 10 percent compared to 2009. A snapshot shows other promising trends:

The number of murders in Lee County dropped (from 20 to 17) but the number of homicide arrests actually rose by 31 percent (from 13 in 2009 to 17 in 2010).

Other violent crimes also trended downward including forced sex crimes, robberies and aggravated assaults.

Sheriff Mike Scott says the good news is no coincidence. “I’m encouraged by the latest numbers, which is a reflection of the diligent and proactive work of all the men and women of this great agency,” says Sheriff Scott. “I look forward to continuing those efforts in 2011.”
