St. James City Christmas Lighted Boat Parade

The merchants of St. James City and the St. James City Boat club are sponsoring the Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday Dec. 18, at 6 p.m.. The parade is for the enjoyment of all. Any and all boat captains are invited to participate. Prizes will be awarded to the 10 best decorated boats and the best dressed crew. The parade will be leaving from the docks of Woody’s and Monroe Canal Marina around 6 p.m.. Festivities start at Woody’s at 4 p.m..

There will be a party and captains meeting on Friday, Dec.17t, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ragged Ass Saloon. Special prices for drinks and food will be available for all attendees. All captains should attend since each boat captain will be given an identification number to hold up for the judges and chili tickets for the awards ceremony Saturday evening at the Waterfront, along with other important information.

Boats will be lined up at Woody’s starting at 4 p.m. and leave by their identification number starting with number one.

For viewing purposes, the boat parade starts at 6 p.m. from Woody’s and the Monroe Canal Marina, south along Monroe canal to the end and then two right turns into the Cherry Estates main canal, north to the wide canal between Royal Palm Drive and York Drive. The parade will then turn around and back track past the entrance to Monroe canal out into San Carlos Bay. The Parade will continue by turning north into the Henley Canal passing the Waterfront Restaurant where boats will gather for a short time to display their lights and ID numbers for the judges. Boats may dock at the Waterfront for the awards ceremony or return to Home Port.

After the parade all captains and crew are invited to the awards ceremony at the Waterfront Restaurant for free chili. In addition, the Waterfront will be offering happy Hour prices for drinks, $.45 shrimp and wings, and $7 for a dozen oysters for all attendees.
