Celebrate 3rd Annual Food Drive Nov. 13
So that no one goes hungry this holiday season, the Pine Island Winn-Dixie will hold its third annual Food Drive to benefit the Pine Island Food Pantry from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.
According to Dan Loughren, manager of the Winn-Dixie, his staff will sell hot dogs and soda for a $1 donation, as well as other various items that have been donated by his store and some of its vendors.
“We will have balloons for the kids, sample stations throughout the store and we will have 200 food bags ready to sell on this day,” Loughren said. “The good bags will be filled with holiday food items and are only $10 each. Our goal is to raise $5,000 of donations to give our pantry ahead start for the upcoming holidays and with our economy so challenging, this year the ned will be much greater than last year. We also would like to thank, in advance, all of our customers who are so generous and thoughtful.”
Any island groups who would like to help with the event are asked to call Dan Loughren at the Winn-Dixie at 283-4404.
