Accused killer back in Lee County
David T. Chavez (DOB 6/17/79), the suspect in the stabbing death of Adam D. McClenithan, is now back in Lee County. Chavez had previously been in custody in Auburn, California on unrelated charges. He was transported to the Lee County Jail this evening after exhausting all appeals to fight extradition.
The incident occurred on April 28, 2010 on Pine Island (see below). Chavez has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
His last known address is listed as 5526 Thomas Street, Bokeelia.

The stabbing victim has been identified as Adam D. McClenithan (DOB 12/23/88). His address is listed as 5617 Meadowlark Lane, Bokeelia.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating David T. Chavez (DOB 6/17/79) of 5526 Thomas Street, Bokeelia. Chavez has been identified as the suspect in the stabbing.
(ORIGINAL RELEASE) – 4/29/10 – 12:45 p.m.
On Wednesday April 28, 2010, at 8:33 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible stabbing on Pine Island. The caller stated a man had come into her yard on Judith Road screaming that he had been stabbed. The victim was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a stab wound to his side. He later died.
Due to the nature of the incident detectives with the Major Crimes Unit of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. Detectives were able to learn the identity of the suspect. An extensive search was conducted but the suspect was not located.
There are no names or any other details being released at this time.
