FBCPI to host 3rd annual Fall Festival Sunday, Oct. 17
For the third consecutive year, the members of the First Baptist Church of Pine Island are pleased to present the Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 17, beginning at 5 p.m. at the church.
“This is an old-fashioned, traditional event filled with family fun activities and it’s free,” said church member Linda Long. “This annual festival is held to gather friends and family for fellowship the old fashioned way and all are welcome to join us.”
Those attending can enjoy free hot dogs and drinks along with numerous games and prizes for children and adults. Festivities include a face painting table, a crafts-in-action table and a bounce house. In addition the festival will offer a cake walk and pumpkin decorating contest.
The games and activities for the Fall Festival are as follows:
n 5 p.m. the bounce house opens free to all children
n 5 p.m. Pumpkin contest registration: Deliver your decorated pumpkin for judging and register for the contest. There will be two categories for top prizes which include children and adults.
n 5:30 p.m. Pumpkin judging: All pumpkins must be on display and fully registered for the judges to being their reviews.
n 5:30 p.m. Cake walk: Register to join in the cake walk. Homemade goodies are won each round of the walk.
“This is a great time of year for community fellowship. We invite everyone on and around the island to come join us in the fun,” said Pastor Clint Miller. “We hope this event will become a tradition for families to attend each fall.”
Other activities for the children will include a bean bag toss, the apple in the tree, sack and three legged races, a worm dig and basketball toss. Each child who participates in these games will also earn a small prize. In addition, adults as well as children can enter a contest to guess the number in a jar in hopes of winning a door prize.
A family focused church, First Baptist Church offers activities for elementary school-aged children throughout the year. During the school year, children from first through sixth grade can participate in TeamKID, a recreational-based program open to all children of the Greater Pine Island area. TeamKID meets at the church each Wednesday from 6:45 to 8 p.m. where the children enjoy fun activities as well as learn important biblical lessons. According to TeamKID coordinator, Raquel Bartholomew, the curriculum balances “high-energy activities with Bible lessons, scripture memorization and life application.”
In addition to regular Sunday worship, First Baptist also offers ladies exercise classes on Tuesday and Thursday as well as summer Bible school for children and other activities throughout the year.
