Donations sought to support Low Key Tiki fire victims
In typical island fashion, when tragedy strikes, the Pine Island community comes together to help out their neighbors. One of the hardships derived from the recent arson at Low Key Tiki was the loss of several jobs and coming to their aid is Jim Frock of Seven Seas Bait and Tackle in Matlacha.
“After the fire I went to the owners of Low Key Tiki and asked how I could help,” said Frock. “They told me that they would be OK, but were very concerned for their employees as now they would be out of a job. I have decided to host a fund raiser to help these folks out and I am hoping that the island community will come forward and help me to help those in need.”
Frock is working toward hosting a “Barge Party” to raise funds for the crew at Low Key Tiki and is currently soliciting donations from area businesses and individuals to help defray the cost of a barge rental on which to stage the event. The event is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov. 7, at Picnic Island off the southern tip of Pine Island. This event will be an afternoon for boaters with food and live music. Those who would like to make a donation are asked to call Jim Frock at 283-1674.
