TeamKid Club returns to First Baptist Church of Pine Island

2 min read

The First Baptist Church of Pine Island will resume its weekly recreational-based club for island children. Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 8, the church will welcome children in first through sixth grades each week throughout the school year beginning at 6:45 until 8 p.m.

Coordinating the TeamKid program this year will be Raquel Bartholomew.

“Our church has offered this club for several years now, and it keeps growing every year,” said Bartholomew. “The program is full of fun activities and the children learn important biblical lessons as well.”

The club is open to all those who would like to attend whether they are members of the church or not, and according to church member Linda Long, each year the program has grown.

“Last year we had as many as 50 children attending TeamKID. In fact, we now see more children at the Wednesday evening program than we do at Sunday school,” Long said. “The children enjoy supervised activities and I am not sure who has more fun, the children attending or our adult volunteers from the church.”

A mission influenced child-based program, according to Long, TeamKID is a child-proven curriculum that balances high-energy activities and games with high-impact Bible lessons, Scripture memorization and life application. In addition to the Bible studies the children are offered a variety of arts and craft projects, numerous games and refreshments to enjoy.

Also incorporated into the program, the children will take part in a recognition program that rewards them for attending sessions, completing Bible-related work and brining friends with them to TeamKID.

“We have regularly scheduled ‘store nights’ where the children can spend their earned points at the reward store,” said Bartholomew.

Utilizing the church bus, transportation to and from TeamKID will be provided. To arrange for transportation or to register a child, simply contact the church at 283-1737.

In addition to TeamKID, the First Baptist Church of Pine Island also offers numerous other activities, including seasonal exercise classes as well as family activities throughout the winter months.

Sunday School is offered each Sunday morning at 9:30 followed by worship services beginning at 10:45 a.m. with Pastor Clint Miller.

The First Baptist Church of Pine Island is located at 5363 Avenue D in Bokeelia, across from Pine Island Elementary School.
