Mardi Gras Labor Day at Woody’s
On Monday Sept. 6, Labor Day, Woody’s Waterside at 3051 Stringfellow Rd. in St. James City, Fl will host the third annual Pine Island All American Labor Day BBQ and Picnic featuring Charlie Kuchler of The Yard Dogs from 2 to 5 p.m.
Charlie has been playing every Monday at Woody’s for almost two years. Mardi Gras Mondays, as they are called, have grown into a weekly event attended by people from all over the world.
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
In his solo act Charlie performs many of his own original songs along with obscure but popular cover tunes. He uses backing tracks that he has recorded himself with a little help from his friends, so what you are hearing are real people playing all the instruments. This gives him a real band sound that makes audiences want to clap and dance along. He also brings along shakers and noise makers so the audience can participate. He even invites people to be guest rub board (wash board) players.
Since 2008 Charlie has released three CDs, “Living My Dream”, Freshly Squeezed” and “Squeeze Me?”. You’ll be amazed at what Charlie Kuchler can do with an accordion. From a mellow ballad to Ragin’ Cajun Rock & Roll, he’ll hold the audience’s attention for the entire night. He’ll get the audience involved and asking for more.
