Fuel price brief for Aug. 30
Despite poor economic news, investors rallied late last week after Federal Reserve Chairman, Ben Bernanke said the Central Bank is ready to help stimulate the economy if the U.S. shows further signs of a weakened recovery. The investor rally helped push the price of crude higher by $1.62 to settle Friday at $75.17 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
The national average price of unleaded regular gasoline is $2.67 per gallon, four cents less than last week. Florida’s average price of $2.62 and Tennessee’s average price of $2.50 also dropped four cents last week. Georgia’s average price of $2.52 decreased five cents fro last week.
