Photo provided Members of the Matlacha Hookers recently presented the Beacon of HOPE a check for $2,000 to benefit island seniors. Present were Hooker vice madam, Robin Lilly with Beacon board members Betsy Haesemeyer, Elsie Stearns, Carlyn Herring and Mickey Lwein.

The Matlacha Hookers hosted a Dinner/Dance at the Elks Lodge on Saturday, June 26, to benefit the Beacon of Hope’s Senior Services. Dinner, prepared by Chef Chris Capone and his assistants, was received well by the hungry crowd. The raffle baskets and 50/50 were also well supported. Then the Bombaleros played to a packed house into the wee hours.

All in all, the Matlacha Hookers met and exceeded their goal for this event. At their last monthly meeting on Monday, July 12, at Sandy Hook, they presented a check for $2,000 to several members of the Board of Beacon of Hope.

The Matlacha Hookers are joining efforts with the Beacon of Hope to reach out to Senior Citizens needing assistance in our community. This event represented the first in the Matlacha Hookers ‘Hooked on Seniors’ series of events.

Keep your eyes on the Eagle and mark your calendar for the second in the Hooked on Seniors series; a golf scramble at Alden Pines on Saturday, Aug. 14.
