WOTM select Rachel Cicoria for scholarship award

Photo provided The Women of the Moose present Rachel Cicoria with a $1000 scholarship for her achievement here on the island as well as her outreach to other communities.

Rachel Cicoria became actively involved in the Methodist church on the island, and eventually switched to Pine Island Community Church. Through these churches and their youth groups she gained a wide variety of opportunities Including community experience and missions opportunities. As a freshman she traveled to Haiti with her dad and spent 10 days in Les Cayes and Port Au Prince helping to restore a church/school and assist the community. She also traveled to Dixville, GA with her youth group to restore run down homes. Here on the island she has participated in Habitat for Humanity numerous times, Adopt A Road, Feed the Families, volunteered at SHARE, and has also worked at various other community events such as the Taste of Pine Island and the Junior Olympics.

Rachel is currently a senior at North Fort Myers High School, where she is a member of the A Honor Roll for all four consecutive years and has a GPA of 4.92. She also has taken, many Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment classes such as Biology, World History, English Language and Literature, Government, Psychology and Calculus. She will graduate 5th in the senior class, and is a member of National Honors Society. With a 1270 on her SATs and a 29 on her ACTs She will attend FSU as a member of their honors program and major in Psychology. Rachel will be continuing her love of dance and hopes she will be successful in procuring a job, or even becoming a dance instructor. With all her activities she still manages to help at home with her six brothers and sister, as her father continues to look for a job in his field as a firefighter.

The Women of the Moose had many applicants to choose from, but the decision was made to present Rachel Cicoria with the scholarship. Rachel and her family joined the Pine Island Moose Lodge for dinner and then the check was presented.
