Emergency Management continues to monitor oil spill
Lee County Emergency Management is continuing to monitor the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, in the event the spill impacts Lee County.
“Right now communication with our partners and the Board of County Commissioners is vital to our preparations. We want to ensure that they are involved and have the most current information available,” said David Saniter, Program Manager for Lee County Emergency Management.
Emergency Management continues to remain in close contact with the United States Coast Guard, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Health, as well as other federal, state and local partners, regarding protection of the shoreline and potential oil clean-up.
Yesterday, Governor Crist signed Executive Order 10-100 expanding the State of Emergency for the coastal counties of Franklin, Wakulla, Jefferson, Taylor, Dixie, Levy, Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota.
