The House Call Vet, Dr. Scott Wouk DVM, will take calls for Pine Island pets this Sunday at Pine Island Feed and Garden Center. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 28, the doctor is in and will provide low-cost vaccinations and health exams. Dr. Scott will offer one-year rabies vaccinations for $10 or three-year shots for $20. In addition, pet owners can opt for a “Healthy Dog” annual maintenance package for dogs, which includes a three-year rabies vaccination, 6 in 1 distemper/parvo vaccination, bordetell (kennel cough) vaccination, heart worm test, fecal test or deworming and a health exam for $99 or a three dog vaccinations for $59.

Cat owner can purchase the “Healthy Cat” annual maintenance package for $79 which includes a three-year rabies vaccination, 4 in 1 FVRCPC vaccination, feline lukemina vaccination, fecal test or deworming and health examination.

All dogs must be brought to the premises on a leash and cats must be in carriers for their safety and comfort.

In addition to vaccinations and health exams, Dr. Scott also offers discount prices on other pet needs including heart worm and flea prevention, Comfortis flea protection for dogs, and Heartgaurd, TriHeart, Revolution and Frontline for both dogs and cats.

As of Jan. 1, all pet owners residing in Lee County either full-time or part-time are encouraged to have both dogs and cats micro-chipped. When registering your pet with the county an additional fee will be added to the cost if the pets are not micro-chipped. Dr. Scott also can micro-chip pets at a reasonable cost. The micro-chip installed by Dr. Scott will be registered in a national data base for the lifetime of the pet to ensure the animal’s safe return to its owner should they become separated regardless of where they are in the country. Dr. Scott also is able to issue Lee County pet licenses as well.

Dr. Scott provides similar clinics throughout Lee County and his fee relects little to no profit as a serive to area pet owners.
