Arrest made in murder for hire plot
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was recently contacted by Cape Coral Councilman Eric Grill (DOB 7/28/65) in reference to a murder-for-hire plot. Grill presented information to investigators regarding an individual claiming to be a hit-man offering to “take care of his problems” in exchange for a sum of money. Upon receiving this offer, Grill went to the authorities and an investigation was initiated.
Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division were assigned to the case. Investigators learned the suspect was targeting two individuals associated with the current case against Councilman Grill on charges of Grand Theft and Fraud. An operation conducted by investigators has resulted in the arrest of Dustin Russell Lofty (DOB 1/6/86) of North Fort Myers. He is being charged with two counts of Solicitation to Commit Capital Murder.
