Victim struck by train identified
The man struck by a Seminole Railway train on Dec. 14, 2009 has been positively identified as Tomas Villa Alcauter, a transient with a DOB of 2-19-50.
The train was headed back to Fort Myers and was north of Matt Road in North Fort Myers when the engineer says he saw a man lying on his back between the rails. The engineer was unable to stop the train before striking the man.
The autopsy shows Alcauter was alive when he was struck by the train. The official ruling is pending, but at this time the death appears to be accidental.
