Tropical Storm Erika advisory for 8 a.m. Sept. 2
A tropical storm warning is in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius.
At 8 a.m. AST, the center of Tropical Storm Erika was relocated to about 160 miles east-southeast of the Leeward ISlands.
Erika has been moving generally westward near 7 mph. A west north-west notion at a slightly faster forward speed is expected over the next day or two. On the forecast track, the center will pass near or over the Leeward Islands during the next day or so.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strengthening is expected today although some restrengthening is possible tomorrow.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 120 miles mainly to the northeast of the center.
Erika is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 2 to 4 inches over the northern Leeward Islands during the next couple of days with possible isolated maximum amounts of 6 inches.
