Main and Heitman Streets to close Tuesday through Sunday night for underground utility work

2 min read

Main Street at Heitman Street will close late Tuesday night, July 28 through Sunday, Aug. 2 while crews install underground utilities in the Main/Heitman intersection as part of the City of Fort Myers Downtown Utility & Streetscape Improvements Project. During this time, there will be no access TO U.S. 41 or McGregor Boulevard via Heitman and Main Streets.

To access U.S. 41 during the Main Street and Monroe Street closures, motorists may travel west on First Street/West First Street, left on Altamont Avenue through the traffic light on McGregor Boulevard to Victoria Street to U.S. 41 (Cleveland Avenue). A second alternate route to access U.S. 41 is south on Broadway, west on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, south on Monroe Street, west on Victoria Street to north/south U.S. 41. (A map of the closure and alternate routes to U.S. 41 is available on the project website at www.fmstreetscape.com.)

This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather and unforeseen underground conditions, etc.

You may visit the web site at www.fmstreetscape.com for project information and maps.
