Special to the Eagle Pine Island student, Brandon Reed, was selected as the Kiwanis Student of the Year.

Nick Mohar, President of Kiwanis Club and Carlyn Herring, President Elect attended the awards ceremony at Pine Island Elementary School. The club presented $50 savings bonds to the outstanding students of the year.

One of the students really worked extra hard throughout the years and was chosen as the Kiwanis Student of the year. Brandon Reed was that student. What follows is a thank you letter written by Brandon on June 16, 2009 after receiving the Kiwanis student of the year award.

“Dear Greater Pine Island Kiwanis,

Thank you for picking me for student of the year. I have never been more excited or surprised about any award I have ever been given in my life.

Next year I will be going to Challenger Middle School. When I get older I will try to become a veterinarian. I think I have a good shot at becoming a vet because I try my hardest in school and get good grades.

Thank you again for choosing me for the student of the year.

Sincerely,

Brandon Reed”

“This is what being a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island is all about. Taking the resource from our hard work and helping a local kid. Good luck Brandon we all know you will do your best” said Carlyn Herring, President Elect for the Kiwanis Club of Greater Pine Island.
