Governor appoints Sheriff Scott to task force on human trafficking

1 min read

Governor Charlie Crist has appointed Sheriff Mike Scott to a new statewide task force aimed at human trafficking. Sheriff Scott is one of three appointees on a 19-person panel created to examine the problem of human trafficking and to recommend strategies and actions for reducing or eliminating the unlawful trafficking of men, women and children into Florida.

The Statewide Task Force on Human Trafficking was created by the legislature earlier this year. It will implement a plan currently being drafted at Florida State University.

“I am both humbled and honored that Governor Crist picked me to be part of this all-important task force,” says Sheriff Scott. “We will work to strengthen efforts to prevent this despicable crime in Lee County and across the entire state.”

Sheriff Scott’s term runs until July 1, 2011.
