Local artist featured at Welcome Center
Matlacha artist Marie Cahill will be featured at the Mangrove Gallery at the Chamber of Commerce for the month of April. Marie will be showing her newest “Beautiful Downtown Matlacha” series of paintings, done in her new style she calls “simplistic”.
Marie Cahill was born in Salem, Mass. She studied art privately, and ran her own Ceramic Studio for 25 years until she and her husband retired to Matlacha in 1994. She is a long time member of the Pine Island Art Association. Her works are in numerous private collections throughout the US and Canada. She has painted several murals in the area including Fort Myers, Sanibel, North Captiva and Sarasota. She is one of the original “Pole Painters”. She designed and helped paint the mural on the Art Building in Matlacha.
