Yard Dog Charlie to release first solo CD

Accordion playing, barefoot stompin’ Charlie Kuchler will host a release party for his first solo CD. The party will take place at Woody’s Waterside Restaurant in St. James City on Monday, Feb. 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. The new CD titled “Freshly Squeezed” contains 11 tracks which are a mix of covers and original songs produced by Kuchler.
“I have always wanted to produce my own CD and was working on it before I met Kip and Brian and joined the Yard Dogs, said Kuchler. “I wanted to play all the music on the CD myself and now that the technology is available to do this, I have not used any pre-recordings to produce the CD and I was able to put is all together myself.”
While striking out on his own, Kuchler remains a loyal member of the Yard Dogs and lends a his own special touch to the music produced by the trio. During his solo performances, Kuchler provides his audiences with shakers and often invites someone to join him by playing the rub board. His music is up beat and many times the audience is compelled to clap along to the beat.
A wizard on the accordion, you will not hear “Lady of Spain” or the Beer Barrel Polka, but you will hear the hot licks of what Kuchler and the Yard Dogs refer to as Florida Swamp Music, a form of Cajun rock n’ roll.
Kuchler is a regular at Woody’s Waterside in St. James City and appears there each Monday night for Mardi Gras Monday. In addition, he is a frequent performer at the Pine Island Moose and along with the Yard Dogs, can be seen each Wednesday evening at Bert’s Bar and Grill as well as Woody’s every other Saturday evening. The guys are not restricted to Pine Island however and have played gigs in various venues at Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral and Key West as well.
