CW Fudge holds ‘Christmas in July’ celebration
The stream of people into CW Fudge Factory for the store’s “Christmas in July” celebration over the weekend was constant.
“Santa and his elves have been very busy,” shop co-owner Carlos Gomez said. “We’ve had two great days and everyone is having a great time.”
The two-day event featured six new flavors of fudge and 12 new flavors of popcorn.
“We focused a lot on the new popcorn flavors this time,” co-owner William Tidball said. “The winning flavors will be available during the Christmas holiday season.”
The six new fudge flavors included Milkyway Dark, Mallo Cup, Linzen Tart, Almond Cookie, Raspvery Chocolate Dream and Cool Mint.
Popcorn flavors were Bacon, Bacon Jalapeno, Loaded Bake Potato, Matlacha Mix, Pine Island Mix, Oreo, Spicy Mango, Ginger Snap, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Banana Chocolate Peanut Butter, Taco and Ghost Pepper.
More than 300 attended the event and approximately 200 completed the survey. Scoring ranged from “burn the recipe” to “I’d buy the whole pan.”
“I’m thrilled at the turnout today,” Tidball said Sunday. “Santa and his elves are here to help people sample our newest ‘holiday’ flavors. The first place fudge winner was Mallo Cup with Cool Mint and Midnight Dream coming in second and third. In the popcorn flavors we had Taco, Loaded Bake Potato and Caramel Trail Mix. Look for all these at Christmas.”
Including the new “holiday” flavors CW Fudge has a total of 60 fudge flavors, plus truffles and other assorted candies as well as gifts unique to Pine Island/Matlacha.
