Daddy Mack Blues Band returns to Bert’s Bar & Seafood Grill
Memphis-based blues singer-guitarist “Daddy” Mack Orr will return to Bert’s Bar & Seafood Grill in Matlacha Wednesday, Oct. 21.
“When you hear ‘Daddy’ Mack and see his act, you could be on the Mississippi River in Clarksdale, Mississippi,” Bert’s owner Bernard Johnson said. “‘Daddy'” Mack Orr’s voice has been compared to the vocals of Albert King, and his latest album, ‘A Bluesman Looks at Seventy,’ has steadily climbed the blues charts so I’m really excited that he will be back.”
Orr has been a part of the Memphis blues scene for decades – originally playing in the legendary group, The Fieldstones. On this album, reviews state that the The Daddy Mack Blues Band delivers its blues real, raw and funky.
The band is led by Orr on lead guitar and vocals and the music has enough grit, sweat and passion to get any crowd moving. This band is “down-home” and one of the top blues bands in the country, according to critics. Its raw approach to blues is something too often missing in contemporary blues, published reports have noted.
Since 1998, the group have been the house band at the Center For Southern Folklore in Memphis on Beale Street, where thousands of tourists from all corners of the world have experienced their natural and soulful musical blend.
Orr has also toured the country, from Huntsville to Las Vegas, and played in Europe. The group has even had rock legends Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood join them onstage.
