Oktoberfest coming at German American Club
The 29th annual Oktoberfest will be held at the German American Social Club in Cape Coral Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17-19 and Oct. 24-26. Hours are Friday, 4 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, noon to midnight; and Sunday, noon to 9 p.m. There will also be a church service in the main tent at 11 a.m., Oct. 20 and 27.
The event – which will be held rain or shine – features homemade German-style food – sausage platters, chicken platters, bratwurst, schweinhaxen, leberkaese, frankfurters and potato pancakes; along with a variety of beer and other beverages.
As always, sit-down dinners will also be offered in the club’s von Steuben Hall with schnitzel and sauerbraten.
Additional food treats will include pizza, gyros, suflaki, hamburgers, roasted almonds, funnel cakes, hot dogs, cheese steaks, ice cream, popcorn and more.
There will also be arts and crafts, with a main, huge tent and outside biergarten with three stages, two dance floors and nonstop live music.
Scheduled musical entertainers include Zimmerer Kapelle, direct from Germany; the German American Social Clubs own Hafenkapelle band; Barefoot Becky &?The Ivanhoe Dutchmen; the Manni Daum Duo and Peter &?Edith.
There will also be daily drawings for tickets from jetblue and tickets from Key West Express for a trip to the Keys.
There will also be a vendor area with a number of exhibitors, and a carnival area for kids – making it a fun for the entire family event.
Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 a the gate, with children under 12 admitted free. There is plenty of free parking on the German American Social Club grounds, located at 2101 S.W. Pine Island Road.
