Take the Miceli Challenge
Joe and Vinnie Miceli of Miceli’s Restaurant have come up with a new menu item, and a challenge for those who order it.
“We’d been seeing food challenges of different types on the Food Channel,” said Joe Miceli. “We thought it looked like fun so decided to come up with one of our own.”
Joe knew he wanted something on a mammoth homemade bun, but what to put between it? “We settled on one pound of angus burger and one pound of BBQ pulled pork for the meats. Then we threw on a pound of chili cheese fries, two pounds of fiesta onion straws, American cheese and some toppings.”
The challenge comes when a diner tries to eat the entire mound of food within 30 minutes. “Anyone who eats the challenge within the time frame gets it free plus a challenge winner T-shirt, his/her name and picture on a plaque and a picture on Miceli’s Restaurant’s website for life. But they can’t get any help!”
The challenge costs $21.99 and can be ordered as a menu item and shared. “This thing is so big,” Miceli said, “that we fed eight of our staff from one. They all said it tasted fantastic.”
The challenge will be ongoing and who knows, the brothers might just come up with another one.
Miceli’s is at 3930 Pine Island Road and is open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.. Live music is offered in the tiki Tuesday through Saturday. Visit the website www.micelis-italian.com for more information on the entertainment schedule.
