Beacon of Hope schedules programs for April

The Beacon of Hope has announced its schedule of activities for the month of April. The Beacon is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Computers, fax machine and printer are available for use.
• The Food Bank-Every Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The Emergency Pantry is available when we are open.
• Wellness Committee — Monday, April 11, at 10 a.m.
• The Veteran’s Support group is meeting again, the first Friday of every month from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call 239-283-5123 to make an appointment.
• Strange Arrangement — Monday 6-7:30 pm. Lessons given. A musical experience.
• Ukulele Lessons – Lynne Hall will be starting a beginners ukulele class on Tuesday, April 5, at 2:30 p.m. Bring your own ukulele if you have one.
• Funds/Communications meeting — Monday, April 18, at 10 a.m.
• Grants Committee meeting — Third Thursday of the month at 1 p.m.
• Pine Island Cares — Wednesday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
• Homelessness Committee — Tuesday, April 5, at 11 a.m.
• Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group — first and third Thursdays at 2:30 p.m.
• Yoga — Mondays from 4-5 p.m.
• Pine Island Boy Scout Troop will be meeting Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m.
• GED classes are on Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• ESOL classes are held every Monday from 7 p.m. at the Beacon, Monday from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the park and Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Shrimp Farm.
• Citizenship classes are held on Wednesday at 4 p..m at the Shrimp Farm and Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Firehouse.
• The Attic (Thrift Store) will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations may be brought during these times. Every Tuesday is 50 percent off clothing, shoes and similar items; 50 percent off “almost everything” will be on April 19.
• Wellness articles are now available on our Website, beaconofhopepineisland.com. These articles are changed every couple of weeks. Previous articles are archived to be read at any time. The present article is on Positive Mental Health.
• Buddhist Meditation, two smaller groups to meet today, March 30, and Wednesday, April 6, at 1 p.m. Call 239-283-5123 to register. Class size is limited.
