Pine Island Garden Club meeting to feature presentation on ECHO March 17
This Thursday, March 17, the Pine Island Garden Club will host Danielle Flood at its monthly meeting beginning at 9 a.m. at the Fishers of Men Lutheran Church.
Flood is the public relations and communications manager for ECHO, an international charity headquartered in Fort Myers. ECHO has a mission expressed as “Hope Against Hunger.” The organization introduces sustainable plants, techniques and technologies to farmers around the world who are struggling to feed their families.
Prior to Flood’s presentation, a breakfast buffet and beverages will be served.
Founded in 1975, the Pine Island Garden Club mission includes the protection and conservation of natural re-sources, encouraging island beauty, and stimulating the study of the fine art of gardening. Its civic duties include the creation and maintenance of the grounds at Philips Park, Museum of the Islands, Bokeelia Post Office, and the butterfly garden at the Pine Island Elementary School.
It also provides financial support to several island benevolent organizations, such as the Beacon of Hope, Calusa Land Trust, CROW, Kiwanis Children’s Park, and the Pine Island Food Pantry. For more information, visit pineislandgardenclub.org or contact Marty Kendall at 239-283-8175.
