Jesse Lovelace said he has been cutting hair since he was a kid. Going to barber shop, he said, was the coolest thing ever.

Lovelace became a professional approximately 8 years ago, and now has brought his master barber works to the Razors Edge Barber Shop in Bokeelia.

Becoming a master barber, he said, is to know how to create every haircut there is, and choosing Pine Island was an easy decision after working on the east coast.

“I like the old Florida slow pace. It’s much different from the east coast, where everything is so fast. Over here is so much more laid-back. It’s a different pace and the people are really nice,” Lovelace said.

People can book appointments to see Lovelace from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, although he said he’s willing to stay later.

Taking pride in the way people look is something he learned to make a top priority, when he became accustomed to cutting the hair of various active military and service people, such as firefighters and policemen, and even a mayor, he said.

“I want people to look good — when they look good, they feel good. I want to build relationships with people, so they come back,” Lovelace said.

The Razors Edge is located at 5504 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia. Call 239-282-8282 to make an appointment or for additional information.
