Friends of Pine Island Library to feature presentation by Sanibel author Sobczak

Sanibel author Charles Sobczak will be discussing how escaped and introduced species have impacted Florida’s indigenous flora, fauna and sea life at a presentation hosted by the Friends of the Pine Island Library. The presentation will look at the invasive species that have arrived in Florida throughout recorded history.
Sobczak’s program encompasses mammals, birds, insects and fish, as well as plants. It will cover the environmental and financial costs of the exotics.
This event will be held Wednesday, March 9, at the Pine Island United Methodist Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m. There is no charge for admission and no reservation is required.
“If you’re interested in Florida wildlife and the chaos that these other animals have wreaked on our ecosystems, this is a lecture you really want to attend,” Sobczak said.
Copies of Sobczak’s books will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation.
Pine Island United Methodist Church is located at 5701 Pine Island Road, N.W., Bokeelia.
