Event to be held in the gardens at Phillips Community Park
The Pine Island Garden Club’s 20th Annual Garden Gala is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 19, beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until 2 p.m., at the Garden Club Gardens at Phillips Community Park at the Center.
The event’s theme is “Gardening For Health” and offers a fun-filled family day encompassing over 70 vendors of plants, art and related products, 50/50 and raffle drawings, Frank Tuma’s Island Music, Pine Swine’s Nauti Tiki BBQ luncheon and more.
Founded in 1975, the club’s mission is the promotion, protection and conservation of Pine Island’s natural beauty. The proceeds from the gala are utilized by the club to support its island efforts to maintain the grounds at the Garden Park, Museum of the Islands, Bokeelia Post Office and the Pine Island Elementary School’s butterfly garden.
The club also provides financial support to several benevolent island organizations such as the Calusa Land Trust, Pine Island Food Pantry, CROW, the Beacon of Hope and the Kiwanis Children’s Park.
