Registration continues for 2022 Snowbird Zero K Marathon
Early registration for the 2022 Snowbird Zero K Marathon is now open. The Zero K will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5, and participants who sign up before Jan. 17 will be assured of a race shirt and entry into the door prize drawings.
This year’s event has moved to the Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781, at the Island Center, 5630 Pine Island Road, Bokeelia.
The Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge 2781 has promoted the Annual Snowbird Zero K Marathon for the past 5 years. This event raises funds for the Greater Pine Island Elks Charitable Trust; it is one of its biggest fundraisers of the year with the proceeds going to support youth and youth activities on Greater Pine Island.
Participants will have one hour to complete the zero K course while enjoying food and drink and live music. Yard Dog Charlie will be performing from 12-2 p.m. and Rudy Cox and his band, Jumpin’ Fences, will provide live music from 3-6 p.m.
Note to everyone: this event is not just for snowbirds! It’s a great fun time for everyone who enjoys laughing, eating, drinking and free stuff!
This year more awards for costumes have been added, including first and second places for male and female individuals and first and second places for teams. There will be a costume contest before the race at 2 p.m. so that everyone can see and enjoy all the hard work participants put into their marathon attire.
This year the obstacle course will be enhanced. As in the past, there will be lots of door prizes, great T-shirts, live music and new this year is the addition of local food trucks.
Registration materials are available at the Greater Pine Island Elks Lodge, Low Key Tiki, CW Fudge Factory, Lazy Flamingo and Miceli’s for the low price of just $25, additional charges for XX and XXX shirts.
