Local paddler and author Connelly to speak to Friends of the Pine Island Library Jan. 10

The Friends of Pine Island Public Library will host its first in-person speaker program for 2022, local paddler and author John Connelly, who will speak Monday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m., at the St. James City Civic Center.

Connelly’s book, “Dying Out Here is Not an Option,” is an accounting of his epic 75-day, 1,500-mile solo canoe and kayak expedition in celebration of his 60th birthday.

Come and hear about his epic adventure that took him through two countries, four states, 22 streams, 58 lakes and the volatile North Atlantic.

This program is free and registration is requested on Eventbrite.

The St. James City Civic Center is located at 3300 Fourth Ave., in St. James City. SJCCA requires the use of facemasks by all attendees.
