St. James City Civic Association Board President Cindy Bickford wants everyone to know you don’t have to be a St. James City resident to come to the center and get involved.

Following CDC COVID protocols is among the top priorities at the center, which has enabled activities to begin again. Multiple indoor concerts are on the schedule, including Uproot Hootenanny on Jan. 9, Merlin Thompson on Feb. 6 and Dueling Pianos in March. There are weekly rummage sales now through season, with proceeds going to maintenance expenses for the center — donations may be left at any time on the lanai.

Bickford said people may not even know about the many activities that go on at the center, such as ping-pong, exercise classes, monthly big breakfasts, and an open house slated for sometime in January.

In addition to the recently installed wood floor, the SJCCA board would like to see some landscaping improvements. Help is needed and requested for tree trimming, landscaping and guidance on what to plant and where.

New to the center is Cena Hamby, who will be taking over all aspects of social media, and Bickford admits Hamby will soon be on the board.

The St. James City Civic Center is at 3300 Fourth Ave., St. James City. For more information, call 239-283-0242.
