Pine Island Potters’ Guild December show Saturday at Koucky Studios
Now in its eighth season, the Pine Island Potters’ Guild will presents its holiday showing in the courtyard at Koucky Studios on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by and chat with participating artisans about their work and take a tour of the studio.
The Guild Show features an ever-growing selection of handmade works created by local artisans in many mediums — perfect for all the people on your gift-giving list or as a treat for yourself. Stop by and explore the works by Guild artisans featuring pottery, jewelry, handmade cigar-box style guitars and ukuleles, holiday-themed gifts, whimsical holiday treats, tropical home decor, woodturning, jams and honey, and ready-to-wear art.
This month the Guild Show will be adding a few new artisans selling beach art, paintings and wood carvings. Fresh baked goods will be available for a snack or to take home for a special addition to any meal.
At 11 a.m., Chuck Koucky and some of his students will demonstrate the art of horsehair raku pottery. Horsehair is used to create random patterns and lines on the pot’s surface shortly after it has been pulled, red-hot, from the kiln.
The Guild Shows are held on the second Saturday of each month from November through April.
