A holiday tradition
Dolphin lights once again installed on the Matlacha Bridge

For twenty years, Michael Gordon said he has been putting up the dolphin lights on the Matlacha Bridge for the holiday season, with the help of a lot of other people. Islanders such as Bill McKee, Jim Young and John Barone, he said, are always there to lend a hand.
Although none came this year as the installation was taking place, he said he especially enjoys it when children show up to watch the tradition being carried on.
“If little kids come, I always take pictures with them,” he said. “It’s the kind of thing we should do with our younger island generation.”
LCEC has donated a truck and driver to hang the festive dolphin lights for the past several years, and Gordon said he appreciates the help.
