Deadline nears for Basket Brigade Christmas gift sign-up
Island families with children up to 18 years old who need a little help to make the holiday merry this year are asked to contact Karen, FISH Basket Brigade Chair. at 513-265-7123 or by email kdurand55@gmail.com, no later than Monday, Nov. 15 to register. If Spanish is required, please contact Nancy at 239-257-8385.
When calling, please be ready with a few specific gift ideas for each child aged 0-12. Children ages 13-18 will receive a gift card.
The Nov. 15 deadline will allow Basket Brigade supporters time to shop, turn in, sort and assign the gifts before family pick-up Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Pine Island United Methodist Church.
When calling, families will also be asked if a holiday meal is needed.
Supporters who wish to contribute can either adopt a child, provide toys or gift cards up to a $50 value to general retailers, such as Walmart, Target, Kohls, Beall’s, Dollar General, etc., or provide monetary donations to FISH so children’s gifts and gift cards can be purchased.
The donation deadline is Dec. 10, with gift drop-off available at the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Station #1.
