Chamber calls 2021 Adopt-A-Crab Stone Crab Festival a huge success

Crowds gathered Saturday, Nov. 7, at Pine Island VFW Post 4353 for the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce Adopt-A-Crab Stone Crab Festival Fundraiser.
Scores of sponsors, vendors, auctions and plenty of live music went into making the fundraiser an absolute success for the chamber and the community, said Administrative Director Tammy Aeschliman.
“This is outstanding. The absolute best turnout we’ve seen,” Aeschliman said.
The crowd was non-stop for the whole of the event, which went on from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Although people stayed mostly outside, many stayed out of the sun, taking shelter instead inside the VFW, where Commander Tom Ferguson stayed busy as the host.
“Greater Pine Island VFW Post 4353 was proud to be the site of the Stone Crab Festival. It was satisfying to see the local community and businesses pull together with the chamber overseeing the event. The VFW was able to showcase our community outreach with over 30 VFW volunteers directing parking and acting as the ‘fire brigade,’ handling various needs and issues. We look forward to next great event,” Ferguson said.
Aeschliman said she is thrilled whenever the chamber can tackle an event drawing islanders to come together to support local community events.
“Thank you to all who attended the first Annual Stone Crab Fest and Adopt a Crab Auction. We wouldn’t have been successful without our volunteers, local food businesses, local vendors, sponsors and the support of our community. We are beyond grateful that all our hard work paid off. We all should all be proud to support the island we love,” Aeschliman said.
